Fantastic Vent: a 3 speed vent/fan inserted into the roof of a unit that can operate at a maximum of 960 cubic feet per minute (CFM).

Flatdeck: a vehicle body with no roof or full-height side walls. Flatdecks are popular among low-volume, short-distance haulers because the cargo is easily accessible. They are also commonly employed in applications where freight is loaded onto the vehicle body by means of an overhead crane, since there is no roof to interfere with loading or off-loading. However, one of the distinct disadvantages of a flatdeck is that it offers no protection from the elements; sensitive loads must be tarped over is poor weather.

Flooring: a solid surface mounted on the vehicle body subframe. Many different materials can be used for flooring; some of the most common options include plywood, 2x6” spruce boards, 2x6” spruce tongue-and-groove (or shiplap), hardwood floorboards, checkerplate steel or aluminum, and extruded aluminum flooring. For additional application information, please see the Truck Body Buyers Guide.

Ford Roof Cap: a stand-up roof dormer that allows full-height access from the cab of a Ford cutoff van (only available for Ford cutoff vans) to the vehicle body. Note: installation requires cutting out the existing roof of the Ford cutoff van.

Forklift Plate: see Pallet Stop.

“Frame-and-Skin”: a type of vehicle body construction that uses a separate steel or aluminum frame to support the walls of the vehicle. Trivan’s interlocking extruded aluminum modular panels replace the common frame-and-skin construction with a combined frame-and-membrane construction that utilizes 1” integral wall posts at 12” on center. This construction technique ensures rigid planar panels that allow for multiple openings in the structure with requiring additional reinforcement (see also Snap Lock Panel System).

Freight Van: the common name for an Trivan unit mounted on a full size truck that does not allow for access between the cab of the truck and the vehicle body.

FRP Panel: Fiberglass Reinforced with Plywood; used by some body builders as the wall of a truck body. Trivan uses a combined frame and membrane construction rather than FRP panels (see also Snap Lock Panel System).

F-Track: see Cargo Control Options.

Full-Swing Doors: see Doors.

Futurathane: a poured rubberized floor coating that provides a resilient and durable surface for high-traffic floors. This flooring is poured over a plywood subfloor and is especially useful for vehicles that are used for a lot of field work (i.e. oilpatch applications).
